Hi all It's been a long time coming, but an alpha version of FixMyStreet is now available for testing at http://fixmystreet.org.nz/home (note the '/home') You'll need to respond to the authentication request with 'alpha' and 'alpha' (as username and password respectively). The authentication is in place mainly to prevent bots from accessing the data, and to limit the public engagement with the system until we have a bit more infrastructure in place. During the alpha test any issues submitted will be emailed back to the reporter rather than the local council. For now http://fixmystreet.org.nz just shows a simple holding page, with no authentication required. Purpose of alpha test Test correct behaviour of system Get feedback on user interface, especially browser issues, text (especially instructions) etc. Where to report bugs Ideally, http://opengovt.lighthouseapp.com/projects/32371-fix-my-street/tickets or via the contact form at http://fixmystreet.org.nz/contact Next steps Work out any fundamental problems with current implementation Publicise the project to Councils via letter of introduction Work on API with Taupo District Council and Wellington City Council (along Open 311 lines - http://open311.org/ ) Work on iPhone/Android apps Upload code to drupal.org, github under GPL2 Later Additional features e.g. RSS feeds, email notifications Better mapping, larger datasets Figure out a business model Please follow http://twitter.com/fixmystreetnz if your wish to keep in touch with developments. It's fantastic to see, and I can't wait to get home on Thursday and try it out on our street. I hope the ninjas give it a good workout before then!
