Hi all,

New Wellingtonian and returned ex-pat Sigi Jottkandt from the Open Humanities
Press has put together an NZ Open Access Week that kicks off at Victoria
University on Monday. It's fairly low key, but some talks and seminars will be
of interest. Here's a link

Both Jane and I are presenting at this event. The core is on archiving
of and access to academic outputs, both peer-review papers and the
source content that is used for them.

My presentation will almost certainly be centered on the two
institutional repositories I support:
http://researcharchive.vuw.ac.nz/ and
http://restrictedarchive.vuw.ac.nz/ . The latter should be unavailable
off the campus VPN as the name implies, since it contains material we
don't have copyright clearance for.

Looks fantastic Jane. Are you planning on audio recording the events for
those who can't be there?

We (NZKM) have an audio recorder, lapel mike etc in Wellington which we
could make available to you if needed.

Victoria University has 2 SonicFoundry rich media recording systems, so you
could (a) record the audio/vido/presentation synchronised and (b) stream it
real-time, if it is configured.

All good. Pick up details sent to your email address.

If anyone else needs the device to record events in the future, just let me
know. It's an Olympus DS-40 with a lapel mike. It does a very good job of
recording content for podcasts.
